大問3 長文の内容一致選択問題
「大問3 長文の内容一致選択問題」について学習します。

大問3は、長文の内容についての質問に対する答えを選ぶ「長文の内容一致選択問題」（12問）です。
長文が[A]、[B]、[C]の3題出題され、設問によりそれぞれの内容が問われます。設問の数は[A]が3問、[B]が4問、[C]が5問です。[A]はEメールの読解問題で、[B]と[C]は歴史・文化・社会・自然・科学・環境などのトピックの問題です。
この講座では[A]に取り組みましょう。

Dear students,
As the general manager of student dining services, I have a few announcements to make. There will be a few changes to our dining services this year, and we want to make sure that everyone understands them. Some of these changes will affect rules in all of the dining areas on campus, so please read this message carefully.
First, there will be some changes at the Westin Student Center. It will open an hour earlier on weekdays, so you will be able to use the lounge area from 7 a.m. Please be aware, however, that restaurants inside the building will keep their current hours. A new cafe will also be opening in the student center, and they are looking for part-time workers. To apply, please contact Jerry Conwell at 1-555-526-6248.
We will also have a new rule on campus regarding peanuts and other nuts. Since many of our students have allergies, restaurants and cafeterias on campus will not be allowed to serve foods containing them. We ask that students do not bring any foods containing nuts into these areas. If you are not sure about an item, please leave it at home. This is to make sure that all students at the university are safe.

学習アドバイス
大問3[A]の本文には段落が3つあり、それぞれの段落に設問が1つずつあります（問題の英文は段落ごとに字下げしていませんが、ピリオドの後が空白になっている箇所が段落の終わりです）。設問の順番は、本文に出てくる順番と同じです。
メール問題のパターンは、店と客との間の「店からのお知らせ」「客からの問い合わせ」「トラブル」といったものや、会社や学校から従業員や学生に向けた「お知らせ」などが多く出題されます。
長文の内容一致選択問題では、本文を読む前に設問文を読んでどのような情報を読み取ればいいのか見当をつけておくと、本文のどこに答えがあるか予測をすることが可能となります。
特に、メール形式の問題は、「目的」と「誰が誰に当てたメール」なのかを把握することが大事です。本文を読む前に、冒頭の4行「From (送信者)」「To (受信者)」「Date (日付)」「Subject (件名)」に目を通して、「誰が」「誰に」「どういう用件で」「いつ」出したメールかを頭に入れてから本文を読みだしましょう。
また、正解の選択肢は本文の表現が別の表現に言い換えられていることが多い、ということも覚えておくと、本文で使われている語句がたくさん使われている不正解の選択肢を選んでしまうことを防ぐことができるでしょう。
